Johanne Bildsøe's house is truly stunning when decorated for Christmas. That said, she is a professional decorater and has an interior shop on Østerbro in Copenhagen.

Nevertheless, I love her incorporation of the rustic nature and vintage pieces. Very basic and very timeless. I always love the crisp feel and air around winter and these photos by Kristian Septimus Krogh really do the decor and the theme justice.

An old barn is been converted into a weekend retreat for a family of four.
Designer Russell Groves was careful to retain the structure of the original barn, installing electricity, plumbing and other necessities without changing it internally. In terms of decor, Shaker style was a huge influence, balanced by more modern pieces.

Paul knocked two rooms into one and removed the hallway to create a large living room.

The all-white background in the living room “is just a starting point and a backdrop for other neutral tones”, says Paul.

In the bedroom, Paul is used an old galvanised bin as a bedside unit, while in the living room, an upturned crate creates an unusual side table. This gives his home a stylish, utilitarian feel.

True charm of Paul's place is down to his collection of characterful pieces from all manner of eras and locations.

Paul made the long table from trestles and some old scaffolding boards.

The open-plan kitchen-diner originally consisted of a small kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, which Paul knocked together to make one big space.

From recovered old chairs to tables and lamps fashioned from lucky finds.

Paul had a carpenter make the kitchen cabinets from reclaimed floorboards.

The worktops, made from old lock gates, “were black when I got them”, says Paul. :0)

A distressed metal drum takes the place of a bedside table.

The angular, hammam-style bathroom was designed by Paul and created using a tadelek, a traditional Moroccan plastering technique that he’d wanted to try for some time.

As part of the renovation, Paul converted the loft.

A Velux skylight fills the loft with light.

Jessica Helgerson remodeled a once run-down split-level ranch house into a mid-century modern house.

The color palette is extremely restrained throughout with dark ebonized floors, white walls, and splashes of various shades of green.

I just love these photos featured in a French magazine, of a beautiful house in Provence. Love the colours, the choice of materials, the blending in of antique furniture without feeling stilted. La belle vie!

Wonderful enfilade here, with the blue grey of the farthest curtains echoed in the painting on the wall.

This rounded ceiling is typical of the position of an old bread oven. Here

they've used it cleverly to house kitchen cabinets and a delightfully irregular wall of plates.

What a bold bed, heavy draperies, silk cushions, opulence!

This picture being slightly out of focus seems to add to the

intimacy, and the gentle effect of the colours.

Another great enfilade, love the wooden mounting over the doorway.

I really love the loft look and especially a worn out and beaten up brick wall. It gives this place instant coolness, don't you think? Here’s a unique look to interior design – a type of 3D green wall paper. It’s dried moss carefully glued into a pattern on an interior wall that makes a unique looking design.
Since the moss is dry.. you don’t have to worry about watering and that. It’s not going to be active. It’d be for the purely asthetic effect.

I went to IKEA few days ago and found LOTS of wonderful items to embellish my home. Every time I go to IKEA, I'm amazed by the cheapness of the the basic interior stuff there.

I got lots of miscellaneous things like drinking glasses, plates, candles ... I do not trust the IKEA's quality of furnitures, for example sofas, I'm sorry :0), but I like to buy little things, for example fabrics, serving dishes, baskets, etc.
